Pella is the leader in its industry when it comes to offering products that fit today’s design needs. Kurt Platte, owner of Platte Architecture & Design, frequently uses Pella windows due to their quality, functionality and perfect price point.
“Pella really knows their stuff, they’re very user friendly, and their customer service is great,” says Platte, who recently has been doing more contemporary projects as the market demands. “Pella, with their nice clean lines and sleek profiles, has responded to the move towards contemporary, whereas some other [companies] have not.”
Platte recently used the Pella Reserve Contemporary line in a home where he designed a solid glass tower with clean details, providing the homeowner with a dynamite view of Findlay Market.
“It’s very urban, sleek and modern,” says Platte. “In fact, it won an award in the Cincinnati Design Competition.”
Another project of Platte’s that utilized the Pella Reserve Contemporary line is located on a five-acre lot in Indian Hill and involved a huge glass wall that looks out to the rear of the yard.
“These are two very different settings and concepts, but both required using two large pieces of glass. Therefore, Pella was the best choice,” says Platte. “We’ve used other products in the past and have had problems as a result. When we use Pella, we don’t encounter problems. They are consistently good.”
Fred Cernetisch, Pella Cincinnati general manager, loves when a structure has a good mix of historic, traditional design interwoven with a contemporary flair.
“I think it’s really cool that people are doing that, and that a company like ours has products that fits both those needs,” says Cernetisch.
The look can only be pulled off, of course, with the right products.
“Product selection becomes critical when you think about aligning to the architectural design, and Pella has made an intentional, conscientious effort to completely have lines dedicated to that ability and yet integrate with each other,” says Cernetisch. “It’s not uncommon in Over-the-Rhine to see very traditional and even historic architecture on the street, but then you go to the back of the building and see contemporary efforts, which typically involve big glass, minimal frame, lots of view, and lots of light.”
The Pella team is thrilled to work with Platte Architecture & Design, one of the leading design build firms in the contemporary space, both residentially and commercially.
