Ginger L. Henson, M.D., specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Cincinnati Eye Institute, where she has been practicing for nine years. This subspecialty of ophthalmology focuses on both cosmetic and functional problems of the eyelids, eyebrows, lacrimal system and orbit. She performs a variety of surgeries to correct drooping upper eyelids, bags under the eyes, excessive tearing and eye socket problems. Dr. Henson is also available for consultation at CEI’s new Face and Eye Aesthetic Center for patients interested in cosmetic facial rejuvenation. She offers a variety of non-surgical treatments including Botox, facial fillers, and CO2 laser resurfacing of the skin.

“Many patients think of CEI only when they have a problem with their eyelids or if their eyelids are causing a visual field deficit. Many patients don’t realize that we also perform cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, including eyelid lifts and surgery to remove bags underneath the eyes,” says Dr. Henson. “Our strength is that we are truly experts of the eyelids. As board certified ophthalmologists, we are trained to focus on the health of the eye first and foremost. When I am looking for a surgeon to fix a problem, I recommend going to the surgeon who has the most experience in that specific field.”

CEI’s Face and Eye Aesthetic Center provides the finest medical skin care products, treatments and surgical procedures to rejuvenate skin and help patients enhance the natural beauty of their face and eyes. Through advanced consultation services, the center offers each patient a private evaluation of their skin and facial features. Dr. Henson then designs a custom treatment plan to improve the health and appearance of the face and eyes, creating a more youthful, natural appearance.

Dr. Henson, a graduate of Miami University, received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She completed her residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in pediatric eye diseases at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. Dr. Henson then returned to Cincinnati to complete her fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at Cincinnati Eye Institute. She joined CEI in 2011. Dr. Henson is board certified in ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is also a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
