Coming down the half-mile drive to Peterloon, you escape from the ordinary and enter a place where stunning and serene beauty will leave you astounded. Peterloon’s eternal elegance, natural outdoor beauty and opulent interiors will create a picturesque backdrop for your special occasion.
Peterloon was the historic Georgian-style home of Cincinnati developer and arts patron, John J. Emery and his wife, Irene. It was designed by architect William Adams Delano of Delano & Aldrich, the leading country-house architectural firm in the United States. The house is a combination of Georgian and Queen Anne styles, and when finished it had 36 rooms, 19 fireplaces and 21 baths. The house was built in 1928 to rival the grandest houses of America and Europe.
Every detail of Peterloon was intentionally finished with pieces of history that were salvaged from European castles and estates. As you navigate the home you will find architectural and design treasures, such as the 400-year-old oak parquet de Versailles flooring in the living and dining rooms, and the 16th century Indigo Jones mantelpiece when you first enter the home. Your guests will marvel at the hand-carved Slavonian oak paneling from the mid-1600s. The masterful artistry found in each facet of Peterloon’s design makes the estate a special place.
The incredible splendor of the home is surrounded by gorgeous exteriors. The outside is adorned with numerous animal carvings and statues, from snails and dolphins to a robust rooster and a basket full of adorable puppies. The expansive two-tiered backyard is ideal for larger tented celebrations, from weddings to fundraisers and social parties. Strolling through a tunnel of natural foliage, you will find yourself entering an exquisite hidden garden that is picturesque for an intimate wedding ceremony. The family’s swimming pool was built to double as a fountain and is a spectacular backdrop for a romantic sunset photo.
John J. and Irene Emery were devoted to Cincinnati, lovers of the arts and incredibly giving. To honor their legacy, the Peterloon Foundation was established to help give back to nonprofit organizations. One way they do this is by offering use of the house and grounds at nominal rental rates to qualified charitable groups. At the core of the Peterloon Foundation is a commitment to help be a home for nonprofit organizations’ events so they can continue to do great work in the community.

To help create an exquisite wedding requires exceptional partners. To create this magical day, Peterloon partnered with event planner extraordinaire, Annette Troescher with Ladyhawk Events, who masterminded the entire day down to the last detail. The gorgeous florals were artfully crafted by Stems by Stacey. Bride Gerilyn looked absolutely stunning in a dramatic and elegant lace gown from Cincy Bridal and her flawless look was created by The Color Lounge Salon. Our groom, Mitch looked absolutely dashing sporting a tux from Folchi’s Tuxedos and Menswear. Gerilyn and Mitch were the sweetest while enjoying tantalizing treats from Elegant Fare Catering. This perfect day was forever captured by the brilliant and talented Brenda Pottinger of Pottinger Photography.
