With a passion for risk management, Moira Lyon, the market leader for the Cincinnati branch of Oswald Companies, manages the organization’s overall growth strategy in Southwest Ohio and Kentucky. She works directly with clients, overseeing their commercial and personal exposures to protect their assets and, most importantly, their reputations.
Lyon defines herself as an advisor, not an insurance broker.
“At Oswald, we focus on giving clients choice and control in their insurance strategy. I feel like this is an untapped approach as many people buy insurance because that’s the only option they have,” Lyon says. “I enjoy being able to take an advisory approach, offering clients a different experience to strategically structure their insurance program. In addition, we’ve invested in internal resources which allow us to provide a proactive response to reviewing risks. We deliver a silver platter experience. It is an honor to be a part of such an incredible team.”
With more than 15 years of experience in the insurance industry, Lyon enjoys consulting with clients, providing a thoughtful risk management strategy. She previously served in business development for the Property and Inland
Marine insurance lines at Great American Insurance. Earlier in her career, Lyon focused on insuring historic properties nationwide through a partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing and management from The University of South Carolina, and has continued her passion for learning through a Wharton Business School program via Chubb Insurance. She enjoys charitable work with the Cincinnati Art Museum and Scouts BSA, where she serves on boards and committees.
“My involvement in Scouts BSA and the Cincinnati Art Museum is driven by Oswald’s core strategies, and one of those is commitment to the community, which is a key part of our vision,” Lyon says.
Oswald proactively encourages their team to be engaged in the community, she notes.
“I appreciate that Oswald offers us each four days off to take part in service opportunities. This not only builds relationships but also allows us to make an impact. That has allowed me to take a thoughtful approach to being engaged with the Scouts and the Cincinnati Art Museum. The Scouts was a vision for me since they now accept women into the program. With that, they were seeking out more women in leadership to help guide them in this next chapter. For the art museum, they were looking for involvement from someone newer to the community and some younger leaders to help with their next generation of visitors.”
