The Karen Wellington Foundation (KWF) took a chance in April, rolled the dice and brought Viva Las Vegas to life at our 16th Annual Karen’s Gift Event. The proceeds from this event support our mission — to get FUN on the calendars of women and families LIVING with breast cancer.
Having lost 37 KWF Recipients this past year alone, our event celebrated all those who continue “LIVING ON” through our mission. It was a night to toast the FUN memories bestowed upon our recipient families thanks to our gracious givers.
Upon arriving at Cincinnati’s Hard Rock Casino, the strings on its famous guitar lit up pink, setting the tone for the party. The Queen Bee Cabaret Dancers dazzled the crowd while the Elvis and Cher impersonators serenaded our guests. The energy in the room was palpable as over 750 attendees danced along to the Soul Pocket Band’s setlist, cheerfully insisting upon an encore to close out the evening.
This year’s Karen’s Gift Event was a record breaker due in large part to the abundant generosity of our Event Sponsors. Their commitment to getting FUN experiences on our recipient families’ calendars is why we raised over $300,000.
As we approach our 17th year as an organization, things certainly are not slowing down. We now average 30 nominations a month, which is why this event was both a FUN and crucial fundraiser for our recipient families.
