Q. Tell us about your company.
My dad started 50 years ago. We’ve been working in Greater Cincinnati for almost 51 years. All throughout the city, we’ve got thousands of projects. About 40% of our clients call us back for more work. The reason they come back year after year is because we’ve designed a master plan for what they want to do. One year they may do a kitchen; next year, they may do an outdoor living space; the next year, they may do a bathroom.
We’re all residential, and it is design/build. We do our own design for the most part, though we do work with other designers and architects. A lot of what we do is kitchens, bathrooms, and additions.
We have a great 50-year-old business, but it really comes from having incredible people. We have 50 amazing employees ready to serve you: a very experienced production team, design team, project consultants, marketing and administrative, all there to deliver the best client experience possible.
Q. Tell us about your showroom and your in-house designers.
We have a beautiful design studio to inspire clients and share all your project plans and details. It is a great place to spend time with your designer, picking out all of the things that make the project fit your style.
Great project planning is what separates us from the competition. I believe if you spend as much time planning as you do building the project, you’ll end up with a better client experience and overall result.
The design studio gives us a chance to help clients. We want to bring their designs to life and really help visualize what they want to do. Our design team is good at making sure people know what they’re going to get. Our designers are trained to work on all types of projects. We’ve been extremely fortunate at attracting and keeping great talent. I believe strongly that every client we have deserves to have amazing people in their house.
Q. What do you love most?
We get to work on beautiful projects for people who have been in the city for a long time. Usually, it’s not our first project with them. Our business is also a very emotional business, to be honest. You realize that that tub you’re ripping out is the one in which they gave their kid their first bath. A lot of things happened there. I think how you do it and the people you bring in are the secret sauce.
I think our design process allows our clients to get comfortable with the designer enough to share who they really are. It takes a little time to get to that. You need designers who listen. They will be designing your custom space that works best for you and your budget.
