Q HOW DOES PNC GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY?

PNC provides each employee 40 hours a year of paid time off to volunteer through PNC Grow Up Great, a $500 million, multi-year, bilingual initiative that helps prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life. Since Grow Up Great’s 2004 inception, more than 1 million employee volunteer hours have been logged at early childhood education centers.

Q HOW DO YOU COLLABORATE WITH OTHER WOMEN BUSINESS LEADERS IN THE COMMUNITY?

I’m fortunate to work for a company that’s incredibly supportive of women and has many women in top leadership positions. This wasn’t always the case in banking. It has changed dramatically over the years and, in my opinion, enhanced our industry. About four years ago, my team and others in the bank identified a need to bring women together in similar positions to network and share ideas and best practices in order to grow and enhance our businesses. These groups include women business owners across a variety of industries, including CFOs of large companies, women in real estate, CFOs of not-for-profits, and human resources directors. No matter what type of business these women are in, there is a tremendous benefit in bringing them together to get to know one another, potentially transact business together and talk about common issues.

Q WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU’RE PROUD OF AT PNC?

Last year, PNC announced the launch of Project 257: Accelerating Women’s Financial Equality, an initiative designed to help close the 257-year economic gender gap women face and expand on PNC’s decades-long track record of supporting female financial decision makers. As a company, we have focused on improving gender diversity in our development programs, where representation now stands at well over 50% female associates. Additionally, we’ve launched several programs for our mid-career female leaders to complement our Asset Management Group and Corporate and Commercial Forward Programs. Three of our executives were named among the industry’s Top Women Executives in Banking.

Q WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS TO MAKE CINCINNATI A BETTER PLACE?

Through supporting the Freestore Foodbank Foundation as a donor and a volunteer, my hope for this city and its surrounding counties is to eliminate food insecurity. I’m proud of the work the Freestore does in the 20 counties it serves, working with agencies to ensure our neighbors receive nutritious food.

Q WHAT’S THE SECRET TO WORKING EFFECTIVELY WITH OTHERS?

Listening is the secret to almost all relationships. Once people know you’re listening to their concerns, you can make progress. I’m inclusive in making decisions with the other leaders in the market to ensure we’re all on the same page. People want to be included and feel like they have a voice, so as a manager, this needs to be a top priority.
