It all started when my boyfriend and I drove up to visit his brother, a football coach at Purdue University, in West Lafayette. Saturday afternoon, on a cold rainy day, we sat outside and watched the football game. After the game we went back to his brother’s house to enjoy a nice dinner with the family. Honestly, at that point, I was ready for a nap.
Everyone sat at the table and my boyfriend began to tell everyone how happy he was to have us all together. He then proceeded to tell me how happy and in love he's always been and always will be with me. During his speech, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I said yes!!
Well, you might say it's about time; we have been together for 10 years. We have been through a lot in 10 years, with both of us working on college degrees at the same time. I am 41 years old and I have never been married, and he is 47 and never thought he could get to a place of happiness to find the one. It has been a long road leading us to this point and I am beyond excited about our destination wedding in Jamaica.
Love isn't always easy, but if you learn to communicate, say you’re sorry and be the best team mate to your partner you will learn the true meaning of love.
